EL CHIRINGUITO CALA GRACIONETA UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2025 This is another place taken over by Grupo Mambo in recent years, so it’s no longer the place it used to be. Expect much higher prices if you go. ANDALUCÍA - RONDA - TRAGATÁ TAPAS
TRAGATÁ TAPAS Chef Benito Gómez, a Catalan with Málaga roots, has been working at Tragatá for 1010 years, having learned the techniques of Ferran Adrià during his stay at the Alquería de la Hacienda Benazuza in Sevilla. He also has the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Bardal in Ronda. The restaurant is informal, lively, and bright, in a space that combines the modern and the Andalucían. The foodis an eclectic mix of traditional Spanish food and international fusion cuisine. T

IBIZA - CALA MARTINA - RESTAURANT SA TRENKA
SA TRENKA RESTAURANT We decided to take a trip up north of the Island from Sant Antoni (San Antonio) to a beach and restaurant we had not been to before. We found a stunning beach, Calla Martina, and a charming, unpretentious chiringuito with a great vibe that specialised in rice dishes and seafood. The perfect ‘alternative’ Ibiza to some trendy, expensive places south of the Island. We booked a table for 2 pm and then walked along the beach. On returning to Sa Trenka, we ord

ANDALUCÍA - CÁDIZ - CONIL DE LA FRONTERA - FRANCISCO LA FONTANILLA
FRANCISCO LA FONTANILLA We returned to this old favourite in August and arrived just as the late summer sun was setting. You will find the fabulous seafood displayed in the cabinet before you. So you can have a good look and be ready to choose. The restaurant was filling up at 8.30 pm, as is the way in Andalucía. We settled down, and after making our choices, we started the meal with, Fabulosas anchoas de Cantábrico. The restaurant's own Cantabrian anchovies. Ensalada mixta (

PORTUGAL - PORTO - MATOSINHOS - RESTAURANTE O LUSITANO - POST 2
RESTAURANTE O LUSITANO This is our second visit to this restaurant in Matosinhos, just north of Porto. All the seafood is cooked on the outside grills. It is near the sea and the fish market, so all the fish should be fresh. Restaurant after fish restaurant greets you on this street with the beaches a stone’s throw away, but this is our place to go. You can eat at the outdoor tables (which now have glass borders since covid; in the past, they were just in the street) or insid

ANDALUCÍA - SEVILLA - RESTAURANT CAÑABOTA - POST 2
RESTAURANT CAÑABOTA One Michelin Star We returned to Sevilla, having not been there for a few years due to Covid and many cancelled flights. On the first full day, we met up with our friend, Shawn Hennessey, who has run Sevilla Tapas in Sevilla for many years. You can find her by clicking here: Sevilla Tapas . We started with sherry at Manolo Cateca, This old favourite of Shawn and ours is always worth a drop by. We then headed off to lunch at Cañabota. This restaurant spe

ANDALUCÍA - CÁDIZ CITY - TABERNA LA SORPRESA
TABERNA LA SORPRESA On a short trip to Cádiz, we stopped at Taberna La Sorpresa for a few tapas and a glass of the local sherry wine. This Taberna is a very underrated hidden gem. It is quite particular in that the tapas and platos here highlight fresh fish rather than the mainly fried seafood found in other parts of Cádiz. Go here once you have had enough fried food and want to try something unique to the area. We started with a couple of copas of manzanilla, followed by sar

IBIZA - SANT ANTONI DE PORTMANY - RESTAURANTE CALA SALADA
RESTAURANTE CALA SALADA We have often been to this family-run beach restaurant in a secluded bay. It is down a steep road. Parking is available halfway down, and a local bus service stops near the bottom of the road. The bus is the easiest and least exhausting way to get there. We turned up without a reservation on this occasion and were fortunate to be given a table inside. Once settled in, we had this excellent lunch, starting with ensalada casa (house salad) and a few beer

ANDALUCÍA - MÁLAGA CITY - PALOCORTADO
PALOCORTADO This excellent restaurant is situated outside of the crowded old town area of bars and restaurants and is well worth a visit. We arrived early for Andalucía at 8.15 pm, and it was empty, but when we left at 10.15 pm, it was full to bursting, as is the way in Málaga. It is an excellent spot for an aperitivo; we had a fabulous palocortado cocktail to begin the evening. There is also a superb wine list. Once settled in, we began our meal with G azpachuelo cremoso
