RESTAURANTE BALANDRO Our friend, Bill Benham, visited this excellent Restaurant in Cádiz, offering a varied and high-quality menu featuring local fish. They serve designer tapas in a modern, hip, and vibrant place. There is a Restaurant area that requires reservations, as well as a bar area featuring high stools. BARRA BAJA RESTAURANTE This excellent Restaurant in the centre of Sevilla has an open kitchen. The food is structured as if in a market, with ingredients coming from oyster stalls, fruit stalls, fish stalls, butcher stalls, etc. The freshness of the local 100% Andalusian product is most important here. Once settled in, we had, Carpaccio de cigalas (langoustine carpaccio). One of the standout dishes. I do not know how they could have carpaccioed (if that is a word!) a langoust

TABERNA LA TANA During our visit to Granada for the Premios Andalucía de Gastronomía 2022 (The Festival of Andalusian Gastronomy 2022), we had a couple of free nights and spent our first one here. Due to the still-played Covid-19 restrictions, there was still no standing/eating at the bar, and everyone had to be seated. We waited 20 minutes for a table outside. RESTAURANT ABANTAL One Michelin Star Abantal was opened by chef Julio Fernández Quintero in 2004. After training at the Taberna del Alabardero in Sevilla and a spell in Washington, D.C., in the USA, Julio returned to Sevilla and opened Abantal. The Restaurant was awarded a Michelin Star in 2009 and has held it ever since. It is currently the only Restaurant in Sevilla that has that distinction. They only have two set menus, One for €100 and one for €80, with a wine pairing

GOFIO One Michelin Star Gofio is a superb homage to the cuisine of the Canary Islands. In November 2019, it was awarded a Michelin Star. This contemporary restaurant recreates the flavours of the Canary Islands archipelago from a modern viewpoint. Chef Safe Cruz comes from a family of farmers from El Tablero, Tenerife. RESTAURANTE VISTAS One Michelin Star We had a short hop over the border into Portugal for a round of golf at Monte Rei Golf & Country Club. The course is set on over 400 hectares in the East Algarve countryside. This refined country club with villa accommodations is 9 km from the Praia da Manta Rota beach and 13 km from the Castle of Castro Marim.
