ALICANTE CITY - ALICANTE TAPAS BAR - VAMOR A VER
VAMOR A VER We recently visited this fairly new tapas bar and restaurant called Vamor a Ver (which translates to “let’s see” or “let me think. It’s located just a couple of blocks off the Explanada in Alicante city, and we stopped by for a few tapas. This place is fantastic for wine, offering an varied, and well-priced selection. Everything they serve is well-crafted and deliciously fresh, made with high-quality ingredients, and overseen by the owners themselves. During our

GALICIA - SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA - TAPAS - O CURRO DE PARRA
O CURRO DA PARRA Santiago de Compostela, located in Galicia, northwest Spain, is a historic city famous as the final destination of the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) pilgrimage. Known for its stunning UNESCO-listed Old Town and Romanesque Cathedral, which houses the tomb of St. James, it is a major spiritual and cultural hub. O Curro da Parra is located in the old part of town in the historic city centre. It is very close to the old market, the Mercado de Abastos de

LONDON - SOUTH KENSINGTON - CAMBIO DE TERCIO
CAMBIO DE TERCIO Under Abel Lusa’s excellent hospitality and guidance, this restaurant has been a long-standing favourite in South Kensington for many years. It has become a standard-bearer for Iberian food in London. Most Hispanophiles consider it one of the best in town. On this occasion, we sat down, wrapped up on a reasonably chilly lunchtime, starting with a glass of Amontillado or Cava. Followed by, Pan cristal y Cinco Jotas Jamón Ibérico de Bellota 100% (Jabugo) Five J

MADRID - RESTAURANTE LA PRIMERA
RESTAURANTE LA PRIMERA We were looking for a restaurant in Madrid for 12 friends to have lunch, and we decided La Primera was the place. The restaurant is located in an ideal spot to enjoy Madrid, on the first floor (hence the name) of an iconic building on the famous Gran Vía. The interior design is elegantly minimalist, with a Scandinavian aesthetic and a dark yet cosy colour palette. It is spacious and comfortable. They offer a fine-dining interpretation of traditional Spa

ALICANTE CITY - MANERO ALICANTE - MANERO MOLLÁ
MANERO ALICANTE - MANERO MOLLÁ On our few-day trip to Alicante, we ate on a Monday evening at Bar Manero Alicante—Manero Mollá —which was quite busy for a Monday. This is an elegant and lively tapa bar in the middle of town, not just in style but also in food quality. The deli counter has carefully prepped plates of food above the beautiful mosaic floor. The tapas menu sticks to the standards but is thriving with every one of them. After sitting down, we had an appetiser.

ANDALUSIA - CÁDIZ CITY - RESTAURANTE SONÁMBULO
RESTAURANTE SONÁMBULO A second review from our friend Bill Benham, on his brief visit to Cádiz. This restaurant is in a hidden spot with a beautiful interior. You will fall for the interior’s simplicity, with attractive retro and rustic details and plants and flowers adorning the walls. Their modern fusion cuisine combines traditional and exotic ingredients to create innovative dishes. We had a fabulous night in this fantastic restaurant with excellent service and incredi

ALICANTE CITY - RESTAURANTE NOU MANOLÍN
NOU MANOLÍN Michelin Plate IIO This well-known spot in Alicante’s city centre has two distinct areas. Upstairs is a chic destination restaurant serving consistently excellent, creative seafood dishes. Downstairs, you will find a casual, come-as-you-are type of bar. We r ecommend sitting at the bustling bar counter on the first floor. (It is wise to turn up when they open the doors in the evening. We started with good ostras (oysters), then buñuelos de bacalao (deep-frie

ALICANTE CITY - BODEGUITA 1999
BODEGUITA 1999 This was our second visit to this restaurant, just off the seafront in Alicante City. They specialise in anchovies and different cuts of steak. Chuletón, entrecot, solomillo, and many more, so make your choice. Antxoas del Cantabrico (anchovies from Cantabria). Txuleton en la mesa with fries and piquillo peppers. Pimientos del piquillo confitados. Txuleton a la plancha on the second visit. With a tremendous fresh salad. Also available are staples like Croquetas

IBIZA - PLATJA D'EN BOSSA - HARD ROCK HOTEL
CLOSED AND RENAMED 2026 This top hotel is set on beautiful golden sands and is a great escape from the madness of Platja d’en Bossa. There are so many room options. If you are worried about space, book any room or suite other than the basic silver room, as these can be small, and the location is in the tower, so it is not as good. The stylish, modern rooms offer free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with satellite channels, and great sound systems to charge your iPod with tunes. Plus,

PORTUGAL - LISBON - BAIRRO DO AVILLEZ
BAIRRO DO AVILLEZ For our third and final lunch on our short Lisbon trip, we decided on something more modern and trendy after two very traditional restaurants. From the outside, the place looks relatively small, but it is actually two restaurants in one building. The front is the Taberna and delicatessen, which serves small plates and tapas and has a buzzy atmosphere. The rear is the Páteo, which is a full restaurant with modern interpretations of Portuguese cuisine. We at
