RESTAURANTE SA SOCA

On the way to Sant Agustí from Sant Antoni, you will find this traditional, rustic, charming restaurant. Although it does not look exceptional from the outside, it would be easy to drive past.

The entrance has a small bar area,

with simple wooden chairs and tables,

and small dining rooms with a fireplace.

Once inside, you will find its large, vine-covered inner terrace, overgrown with plants, and a quiet countryside landscape twinkling in the background.

The same family has owned Sa Soca for many years. A husband-and-wife team, Andrés Asensio from Almería and Antonia Marí, an Ibicenca, set up the restaurant in 1976. Their son, Andrés, and his sister, Alicia, are now running the restaurant.

There is a very friendly atmosphere, and when you enter, you are greeted by Andreas and Alicia with big, contagious smiles, as if they have known you for years. On the menu, you will find all the classic Ibicencan dishes, such as

Huevos payes (country-style eggs)

Bullit de peix (fish soup)

Carrilleras de cerdo en salsa de vino tinto (pork cheeks in red wine)

We started with,

Pan y all i oli

Followed by,

Gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns)

Gambas en Gabardina (deep-fried battered prawns)

Langostinos con ensalada de mango (breaded langoustines with mango salad)

Hombro de Cordero (shoulder of lamb)

However, their signature dish is Guiso de Conejo Sa Soca (rabbit stew), still made according to the grandmother’s recipe. The meat is very tender.

Greixonera (a typical Ibicencan dessert made with old ensaimada; beware, vegans: it contains lard), milk, eggs, and sugar. The Greixonera takes its name from the pot in which it was formerly prepared, the traditional clay pot of the Balearic Islands.

Tarta de Manzana (apple pie)

With the prawns we had, José Pariente (Rueda) 100% Verdejo.

And the meat we had: Marqués de Cáceres Reserva (Rioja), 85% Tempranillo, 15% Garnacha Tinta.

The owner, Andrés, was fantastic. His energetic service and graceful movement added a special touch to the evening. All the food was excellent, especially his grandmother’s timeless rabbit stew.

Closed Monday, December & January
