ROSARIO VARELA During our visit to Granada for the Premios Andalucía de Gastronomía 2022 (The Festival of Andalusian Gastronomy 2022), we had a couple of free nights and spent our second one here. Due to the still-in-play Covid-19 restrictions, there was no standing/eating at the bar, and everyone had to be seated.
This is a little Local pearl in Granada. We went on a relatively quiet Sunday evening, when many other bars were closed, but still had to wait 10 minutes for a table in the whole large restaurant area.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was very friendly, and the waiters spoke excellent English (not that this is a requirement). If you are looking for something other than traditional Spanish tapas, this is a place to try a more modern style that is very tasty.
It has a bit of a retro interior, but all ages were here.

We started with three cañas and were surprised to get three very good pulled pork bocadillos.

On ordering a bottle of wine, a giárima de sommos from Somontano,

we then received three more free tapas, this time a Thai-style roll/wrap.

You could probably keep this up all night, but we decided to choose some more food from the menu.
This time a racion of patatas charcoal con pulpo (squid ink potatoes with octopus carpaccio)

Los Costillas (pork spare ribs)

Even though we had arrived quite late and the room was getting empty by now, there was no rush by the staff for us to leave. We were, in fact, I think, the last to leave!

The house vermouth is excellent, and they have a good wine list as well.
