A DAY & NIGHT OF FOOD & ADVENTURE IN IBIZA WITH RENOIR GUIDES TOUR 3
You will be taken to a link for further information if you click on the people or places highlighted in RED . It was a perfect day. Bernadette and I drove to the ferry and boarded an 8 am boat to Ibiza. We landed at the old familiar dock and went down the street to Mar y Sol Café. Since opening in the twenties, this has been the spot to grab a good coffee and breakfast, watch people, and meet people. “Meet you at Mar y Sol” is the standard reply for a discreet or otherwise

A DAY & NIGHT OF FOOD & ADVENTURE IN IBIZA WITH RENOIR GUIDES TOUR 2
After meeting Jonathon Lipsin and Bernadette Mundy on Facebook through our shared love of Ibiza, Formentera, and music, I invited them to Ibiza each year for a day-long tour of the Island, with food, fun, and frolics. This was to be our second trip. After their short sea trip from Formentera, we met at our usual meeting place outside the Café Mar y Sol in Ibiza Town. This time, my friends from London, Danny and Pankaj, joined us. Once settled in our hire car, I gave them a

A DAY & NIGHT OF FOOD & ADVENTURE IN IBIZA WITH RENOIR GUIDES TOUR 1
After meeting Jonathon Lipsin and Bernadette Mundy on Facebook through our shared love of Ibiza, Formentera, and music, I invited them to Ibiza for a day-long tour of the Island, with food, fun, and frolics! We arranged to meet outside the famous Mar y Sol Carrer Lluís Tur i Palau, 22, 07800 Eivissa In Ibiza Town. This was traditionally the first port of call when disembarking your boat or ship in Ibiza town. After their short sea trip from Formentera, my friend Frank joine

CATALUNYA - BARCELONA - SUCULENT
SUCULENT Michelin Plate IIIO On our trip to Barcelona, we visited the restaurant Suculent. This is a great place with no pretensions in the somewhat dodgy area of Raval, and it lives up to its recent good reputation. It has a creative and relaxed interior with a good atmosphere, a little rough and ready rather than sophisticated, but the focus is on what comes on the plate. There are two tasting menus; we chose the classic, a seven-course menu plus two desserts. The Classic

FORMENTERA - SANT FERRÁN DE SES ROQUES
This is the scene in Sant Ferrán de ses Roques (San Fernando), one of four villages on this island. The hippie market is held along the walkway, with artists selling crafts. You have the legendary Fonda Pepe at one end, where we usually end up. FONDA PEPE Calle Mayor 55, Sant Ferran de Ses Roques, 07871 Formentera +34 971 328 033 This is the heart and soul of the island. Most nights, there is music yards away and a market of artisans, some of whom we know well and were at th

ANDALUCÍA - RONDA - TRAGATÁ TAPAS
TRAGATÁ TAPAS Chef Benito Gómez, a Catalan with Málaga roots, has been working at Tragatá for 1010 years, having learned the techniques of Ferran Adrià during his stay at the Alquería de la Hacienda Benazuza in Sevilla. He also has the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Bardal in Ronda. The restaurant is informal, lively, and bright, in a space that combines the modern and the Andalucían. The foodis an eclectic mix of traditional Spanish food and international fusion cuisine. T

ANDALUCÍA - SEVILLA - BARRA BAJA RESTAURANTE
BARRA BAJA RESTAURANTE This excellent restaurant in the centre of Sevilla has an open kitchen. The food is structured as if in a market, with ingredients coming from oyster stalls, fruit stalls, fish stalls, butcher stalls, etc. The freshness of the local 100% Andalusian product is most important here. Once settled in, we had, Carpaccio de cigalas (langoustine carpaccio). One of the standout dishes. I do not know how they could have carpaccioed (if that is a word!) a langoust

ANDALUCÍA - SEVILLA - MARABUNDA FOOD
MARABUNDA FOOD This is an excellent bar on a quiet street in the San Lorenzo area of Sevilla. It has tall stalls at the bar or tables and chairs opposite. The open kitchen allows you to see the food being prepared. The tapas menu is short but well-executed. We have been here three times now. Gilda acostada, anchoa, boquerón, piparra y aceituna kalamata (gilda lying down, salted anchovy, pickled anchovy, piparra and kalamata olives). A must-try is croquetas de pato. Duck croq

MADRID - ROOSTIQ
ROOSTIQ During a major snowstorm, we had an excellent dining experience here in Madrid’s Chueca district. It is a modern-style asador where they serve good, honest food in a wonderful setting with an open fire. All the tasty, healthy, and organic produce is from their garden farm in Ávila, in the rolling hills and countryside northwest of Madrid. To start, we had the highly recommended, Torrenznos Roostiq (Roostiq’s fried belly pork) There are many, many torreznos, but every
