CATALUNYA - BARCELONA - DISFRUTAR
DISFRUTAR Three Michelin Stars Disfrutar has just received its third Michelin Star and lives up to its name (which means ‘enjoy’ in English). Currently rated as number 1 in the Best 50 Restaurants in the World 2024 list. See here for the complete list: www.theworlds50best.com This restaurant is situated away from the main tourist area of Barcelona. Once you enter the restaurant, you feel like you are taking centre stage. The initial contact with the staff is very warm.

ANDALUCÍA - ALMERÍA - VERA - TERRAZA CARMONA
TERRAZA CARMONA Michelin Plate IIO This grand restaurant is a family-run business and the oldest in Vera. Vera is the main town in this area, located approximately 10 km inland from the coast. I believe it was once home to the only cinema outside Almeria. If you come to the open market in Vera on a Saturday, you will find this oasis in the thick of it. You can stroll around the market from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and then sneak in before the rush. On arrival, you will enter

ANDALUCÍA - SEVILLA - TAPAS TOUR 2 - 2023
We returned to Sevilla for the first time since 2019 after many false alarms over the past couple of years due to covid, cancelled flights, etc. This was our second tapas tour with our friend, Shawn Hennessey of Sevilla Tapas. You can see our 2019 tapas tour HERE; all the bars are still valid. This time, we headed for the down-to-earth Tirana district of Sevilla, which the Mercado de Triana, a lively market hall near the arched Puente de Isabel II bridge, anchors. Many resta

IBIZA - SANT ANTONI DE PORTMANY - SA CAPELLA
SA CAPELLA UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2024 Like quite a few venues in San Antonio, Sa Capella has been taken over by Grupo Mambo. It is still a fantastic venue, but now trendy Boho rather than Monks in Robes style. The menu has changed and is much more expensive, including the wine list, so if you want to go, check the menu before you go. The food is much more international now than Ibicencan. For example, Australian wagyu costs €41 for 100g, and the cheapest bottle of wine is €70—Vega

DONOSTIA-SAN SEBASTIÁN - ZAZPI GASTROBAR
ZAZPI GASTROBAR SAN TELMO MUSEOA Plaza Zuloaga, 1, 20003 Donostia, Gipuzkoa, Spain +34 943 50 67 67 www.zazpistm.com UPDATED JULY 2024 During our last visit to Zazpi, we discovered that it had relocated to a new home. Not all exceptional cooking takes place in a quiet setting with linen tablecloths and servers in waistcoats, and Zazpi was a perfect example of that. This restaurant is now situated in the avant-garde wing of the Museo San Telmo, and the cuisine crafted by the

FORMENTERA - SANT FERRAN DE SES ROQUES - CAN FORN
FORMENTERA CAN FORN The Sant Ferran de Ses Roques (San Fernando) village is on the Island of Formentera, in the Mediterranean, north of North Africa and east of Spain. I wanted to take my friend Bernadette Mundy out for a pre-birthday dinner, so I followed my nose to Restaurante Can Forn in the village of Sant Ferran de Ses Roques (San Fernando). As a young hippie, I met Bernadette in the Fonda Pepe bar in 1973. Tonight, though, I was hungry, and I managed to score a table

LONDON - AN 80 YEAR OLD RIOJA AT MEDLAR IN CHELSEA
I had been looking for a reason to drink this special wine for some time. It came a few months ago, when I was looking through some of my old wines with my friend Mark Walsh, and he said 1942 was the year my dad, John, was born. So that was it...... You can find Mark here, on Instagram @walshjewellery , and at www.walshjewellery.com John was born in 1942, so this wine was still a grape then. The day we arranged to drink the wine, 23rd July, just happened to be my late Mother’

IBIZA - SANT AGUSTI DES VEDRÀ - CAN BERRI VELL
RESTAURANTE CAN BERRI VELL When you arrive in the lovely little village of Sant Agustí des Vedrà , opposite the village church, You will find an excellent traditional restaurant. This was once a 17th-century home and is now a lovely, romantic, candle-lit spot with a delightful terrace area overrun with greenery. The restaurant has been open for 30 years, and once you get inside, you will be in an authentic rural Ibicencan home. There are different rooms, small & large, with

ANDALUCÍA - MÁLAGA CITY - RESTAURANTE BLOSSOM
BLOSSOM - RESTAURANTE EN MÁLAGA One Michelin Star If you’re looking for a restaurant in the centre of Málaga, just a few meters from the Cathedral, this restaurant could be the perfect option. Argentina-born chef Emi Schobert draws inspiration from the sea, the mountains, and local ingredients. The inside of the restaurant is tiny, and most of the tables are on the pedestrian street it fronts. On arrival, we settled in with a small beer and an Aperol spritzer. We started w

ANDALUCÍA - MÁLAGA CITY - RESTAURANTE KALEJA
KALEJA One Michelin Star The name of this restaurant by Chef Dani Carnero is particularly apt (Kaleja is the Sephardic word for alley), given its location in Málaga’s Jewish quarter, just a few steps from the city’s Picasso Museum. It is a gastronomic restaurant based on interpretations of the traditional Málaga recipe book and on enhancing humble ingredients that have sometimes disappeared from large restaurants, such as beans, lentils, etc. There are two dining areas in
