ANDALUCÍA - MÁLAGA CITY - UVEDOBLE TABERNA - TAPAS IN MÁLAGA

This was our second visit to Uvedoble Taberna in Málaga City, conveniently located near the Roman Theatre and below the Alcazaba in Málaga’s historic centre, inviting exploration and a sense of place.
Despite its characterless, tourist-café look, this restaurant and bar serves interesting tapas, including several typical Málaga dishes, adding an authentic local touch.
The interior is minimalist with a lively bar area.
On our first visit, we had eaten elsewhere before coming here. Since all the tables were taken, we sat at the bar and had a caña and a couple of dishes to get a feel for the place.
Tuna tataki con salsa, featuring fresh red tuna with a flavorful sauce, was a standout.
Tuétano asado con vieira y aliño japonés, combining roasted bone marrow with scallops and Japanese dressing, showcases the menu.
Suitably impressed, we planned a second visit, where we sat at a pre-booked table and had,
Ensalada Uvedoble, con queso de cabra, foie, nueces y puré de pera (Uvedoble salad, with goat cheese, foie, walnuts and pear puree).
Ceviche de pez espada con aguacate de la Axarquía (swordfish ceviche with avocado).
To drink, we had a couple of cañas to start, that was followed by a bottle of Tres Mulleres from the Monterrei D.O. in Galicia, 100% Godello.
Atún rojo con emulsión de coliflor (grilled red tuna with cauliflower emulsion).
Fideos negros tostados, chipirones malagueños y alioli (squid ink black toasted noodles with local small squids and alioli).
Raviolis de puerro, gambas y setas con gazpachuelo de guiso (leek, prawn and mushroom ravioli in a mayonnaise-based stew).
Bacalao tibio con alioli de patata y pimiento del piquillo (warm cod, potato aioli with a fantastic piquillo pepper sauce).
Tarta de queso con fresas (an excellent house cheesecake with fresh strawberries).
We had excellent service from Jose, who made great recommendations and made us feel genuinely welcome and cared for.
Since it is quite popular and fairly small, it is advisable to book ahead or arrive early to secure a table, especially during peak times.
