ANDALUCÍA - GRANADA - TABERNA LA TANA
TABERNA LA TANA
March 2022
During our visit to Granada for the Premios Andalucía de Gastronomía 2022 (The Festival of Andalusian Gastronomy 2022) we had a couple of free nights and spent our first one here.
Due to the still, in play, Covid-19 restrictions, there was still no standing/eating at the bar and everyone had to be seated. We waited 20 minutes for a table outside. The restaurant is a very cosy, tiny, crowded, and noisy taberna on a side street.
There are three tables inside the bar which is lavishly covered in their excellent wine selection.
When the sophisticated (mainly cold) dishes start to arrive you can easily forget that you're in a small tapas bar in a side street and think that you're in a more high-end restaurant.
Esparragos verdes (green wild asparagus).
Followed by piramide de foie (pyramid of foie gras with quince jam inside).
A racion of the stunning, spicy, morcilla con piñones (spicy black pudding with pine nuts) possibly too much for the three of us.
We chose a Viña Tondonia 2008 from Rioja, which, although good, we have had before and with hindsight, we should have tried one of the many excellent local Granada wines. next time.....
A racion of lomo a la sal (salt-roasted pork)
It is a bit more expensive then other bars nearby and you only get a free tapa with your first drink.
A couple of photos from a previous visit, pre covid, when you could just eat at a bar table outside.
Service was friendly and efficient. Reserve a table in advance or come as soon as they open, or you will have to join the queue outside.
