This venue has gone through many changes and is now
LA MARUJONA CHÁCHARA BAR

The venue currently gets good reviews for the food and drink, although we have not been ourselves.
PREVIOUSLY PULPO Y APARTE & L A TAPERIA MESÓN DEL ASADOR
If you are looking for grilled and or octopus in Jerez de la Frontera, this is the place to come.
If you like pulpo (octopus) you will not go wrong in finding this smart little tapas bar. They have different options, from healthy boiled traditional Pulpo a Feira to pan fried versions.
The excellent Pulpo a Feira here is so good you would almost think you are in some little pulpeira in cool Galicia rather then the baking hot sherry town of Jerez de la Frontera.
There are also excellent grilled meats like chuletón de vaca retinta
or chuletón de buey
Also try Pimentos de Padrón (small green peppers, some are hot, some are not)
Very good small freshly made tortilla
Mejillones al vapor (steamed mussels)
Vieras (scallops)
Calamares a la plancha (Grilled squid)
Almejas (Clams
They also do some excellent pork and beef dishes
You can drink a nice Galician alberiño white wine for a change or even a cold cruzcampo beer if you have had too much sherry (although I‘m not sure you can have too much sherry in Jerez!)
The kitchen is open so you can see a big part of the cooking process in front of you which also makes for a more authentic atmosphere.
Strangely they do not serve coffee but you get invited to a round of shots.
The place can get very busy around 10pm
You can eat inside, on the terrace or in the side street off the main square (Plaza Arenal) if you wish to be in the shade.
The staff are very friendly and attentive.
