MADRID - DEESSA
DEESSA Two Michelin Stars Quique Dacosta has made his three Michelin-star restaurant in Dénia a destination venue. He has now opened a restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental Ritz in Madrid so that guests can experience his talents in the Spanish capital. The restaurant is in the beautiful and opulent Alfonso XIII room, which overlooks the Ritz Garden. Diners are invited to taste one of two tasting menus designed by longtime Dacosta collaborator Chef Ricard Tobella. Clásicos de

MADRID - MUSEO DEL JAMÓN
MUSEO DEL JAMÓN A few of these Museo del Jamón tapas bars are scattered around Madrid, and this one at Carrera San Jeronimo 6 is our particular favourite. They all offer an eclectic mix of traditional Spanish food, centred on ham, bread, beer & wine. This place can be a godsend for those concerned about how much they spend. A beer and a ham & cheese bocadillo (roll) can be bought for around €1; you cannot beat that. If you have more money, try one of the less expensive Jamón'

MADRID - RESTAURANTE LA PRIMERA
RESTAURANTE LA PRIMERA We were looking for a restaurant in Madrid for 12 friends to have lunch before the Atletico Madrid v Manchester United Champions League football match. We decided La Primera was the place. The restaurant is located in an ideal spot to enjoy Madrid, on the first floor (hence the name) of an iconic building on the famous Gran Vía. The interior design is elegantly minimalist, with a Scandinavian aesthetic and a dark yet cosy colour palette. It is spacious

EL INVERNADERO RODRIGO DE LA CALLE One Michelin Star We had an enjoyable and excellent vegetarian meal at this newly awarded one Michelin star restaurant run by chef Rodrigo de la Calle, who has worked at various Michelin-starred restaurants over the years, especially with Martín Berasategui at his eponymous restaurant in Lasarte. We chos e the #VegetaliaPowe r menu at €135 (there are other menus at €95 and €65), including water, bread, cheeses, and pairing with their dr

MADRID - RESTAURANTE NaDo
NaDo Madrid June 2021 This restaurant opened in late 2020, and we visited in June 2021. It's not easy to find, as it is located underground in a cave-like setting. Chef Iván Domínguez, a native of A Coruña, has restaurants in both the city and Madrid. Both are called NaDo, which means " to swim in Galician, where his Atlantic haute cuisine originates. He is intensely interested in the so-called discarded fish from the Atlantic, and many of them appear on his menus. We had th

MADRID - RESTAURANTE DSTAgE
RESTAURANTE DSTAgE Two Michelin Stars This was our first visit to this two-star Michelin restaurant, which is superbly run by chef Diego Guerrero, who combines the ingredients and flavours of Spain, Mexico and Jap an to create a st unning effect. The restaurant is on a side street off the main area and is set in a modern, minimalist style, with exposed brick walls and straight, clean lines. We chose the 15-dish menu at €165 per person. To start, we had, Un product, un Pl

MADRID - RESTAURANTE TRICICLO
RESTAURANTE TRICICLO Michelin Bib Gourmand The restaurant's name fits like a glove, as the "tricycle" is a very accurate metaphor for the three young chefs running the show here. One worked in the original DiverXO restaurant in the Madrid district of Tetuán; one was always a chef, and the other was a cyclist and poet. The simple décor combines the height of rusticity with an endearing bistro charm. This simplicity is offset by a high degree of culinary expertise, showcas
