BASQUE COUNTRY - A DAY IN VITORIA-GASTEIZ
Vitoria-Gasteiz is the capital of the Basque Autonomous Community in northern Spain. The Gothic-style Santa María Inmaculada Cathedral features a sculpted facade and towering columns in the medieval quarter. The 17th-century Plaza de la Virgen Blanca features a monument to the 1813 Battle of Vitoria. The Church of San Miguel has a sizeable baroque altarpiece and a statue of the White Virgin, the city's patron saint. Beethoven dedicated his Opus 91, often called the " Battle

IBIZA - CALA d'HORT - ES BOLDADO - POST 2
RESTAURANTE ES BOLDADO Michelin Plate IIO We returned to another favourite restaurant on our mid-March trip to Ibiza, Es Boldado. When driving from Sant Josep to Cala d’Hort, take the last right turn to Cala Truja; after about 3 km, you will see the sign for Es Boldado on your left. Turn on this road and drive down the dusty Camino (dirt track) for about 1.5km. You will see the best view of Ibiza. This is the restaurant for you if you want a view. Restaurante Es Boldado

ANDALUCÍA - MÁLAGA - MARBELLA - CASA ELADIO
CASA ELADIO Michelin Plate IIO Casa Eladio was founded in 1965 by Eladio Cabello Serrano. It was managed by José Eladio Cabello Santaella (the founder’s son) for 38 years during Marbella’s golden age. It has a contemporary, maritime-inspired décor that has been given a new lease of life, with José’s son, Carlos Cabello Jimenez (the family’s third-generation), now working in the kitchen. Carlos worked in Northern Spain and Málaga before returning to the family restau

CATALUNYA - BARCELONA - SUCULENT
SUCULENT Michelin Plate IIIO On our trip to Barcelona, we visited the restaurant Suculent. This is a great place with no pretensions in the somewhat dodgy area of Raval, and it lives up to its recent good reputation. It has a creative and relaxed interior with a good atmosphere, a little rough and ready rather than sophisticated, but the focus is on what comes on the plate. There are two tasting menus; we chose the classic, a seven-course menu plus two desserts. The Classic

ANDALUCÍA - ALMERÍA - VERA - TERRAZA CARMONA
TERRAZA CARMONA Michelin Plate IIO This grand restaurant is a family-run business and the oldest in Vera. Vera is the main town in this area, located approximately 10 km inland from the coast. I believe it was once home to the only cinema outside Almeria. If you come to the open market in Vera on a Saturday, you will find this oasis in the thick of it. You can stroll around the market from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and then sneak in before the rush. On arrival, you will enter

IBIZA - CALA d'HORT - ES BOLDADO - POST 1
ES BOLDADO Michelin Plate IIO This review contains three different trips to Restaurante Es Boldado in Cala d’Hort. When driving from Sant Josep to Cala d’Hort, take the last right turn to Cala Truja before you reach Cala d’Hort. After about 3 km, you will see the sign for Es Boldado on your left. Turn on this road and drive down the dusty Camino (dirt track) for around 1.5km, and you will see the best view of Ibiza. If you want a restaurant with a view, this is the one

ANDALUCÍA - PROVINCIA DE SEVILLA - ASADOR LA PERDIDA
ASADOR LA PÉRDIDA Michelin Plate IIO This incredible spot is just outside Sevilla, in a stunning old hacienda. The hacienda has been completely renovated with beautiful indoor spaces and outside terraces to enjoy this unique gastronomic experience and setting. It is a place for carnivores, and the fantastic meat comes from the livestock raised naturally and ecologically in the Riberas del Guadaíra, a unique and protected natural environment less than 20 km from Sevilla. ASTURIAS - RIBADESELLA - PLAYA DE VEGA - RESTAURANTE GUEYU-MAR
RESTAURANTE GUEYU-MAR Michelin Plate IIO The coastline around Ribadesella features extensive sandy beaches and small coves. Playa de Vega is a remarkably unspoiled spot outside this sidra-obsessed, picturesque town. A café bar and snack kiosk provide drinks and ice cream. For a special lunch there, try this superb fish restaurant. All the staples are there, Almejas (clams) Gambas (prawns) Sardinas (sardines) Cetollu (spider crab) Pulpo a feria (octopus in the style of th

ANDALUCÍA - CÁDIZ - BARBATE - RESTAURANTE EL CAMPERO
RESTAURANTE EL CAMPERO Michelin Plate IIO Barbate, a rather scruffy fishing village on the southern coast of Spain near Cádiz, has been catching bluefin tuna using the same methods for over 3,000 years. This traditional method, almadraba, is famous throughout Spain for catching the country's most popular tuna. The almadraba season runs from May to June. Small fishing boats attached to giant round nets float in an ever-widening circle in the narrow Strait of Gibraltar betw
