LONDON - HEDDON STREET - SABOR
SABOR One Michelin star
Sabor, founded by Nieves Barragan and José Etura, is just off Regent Street in the little foodie enclave of Heddon Street. Sabor means flavour in Spanish. The restaurant has three distinct areas, The bar and counter on the ground floor and the El Asador on the first floor. The first two are walk-in only, El Asador you need to book. Sabor was awarded One Michelin Star in 2018. We arrived at 7 pm on a Saturday evening and after a short wait, we were given a spot at the bar area. We started with a couple of glasses of Jose Pariente Verdejo 2018. Followed by
Sepia croquetas y hinojo aioli
Cuttlefish croquetas and fennel aioli
Tempura de rape y alioli de mermelada de guindilla
Monkfish tempura and chilli jam alioli
Anchoas, lardo y picos
Anchovies, lard sheets, and mini breadsticks
Txistorra tortilla
Tortilla with Basque chorizo
At the point, a spot became available at the counter, so we moved there. We then chose a Mimetic Garnacha Gallina de Piel 2020 and settled in for some more food,
Vieiras Reina
Queen scallops
Atún sellado, ajo blanco y almendras laminadas
Seared tuna, ajo blanco, and flaked almonds
Pulpo, mojo rojo y patatas
Octopus, mojo rojo, and baby potatoes
Presa Iberica Señorio de Montanera Y mojo verde
Moving on to dessert, we finished with,
Arroz con Léche (rice pudding)
Una selección de turrón Española
A selection of Spanish nougat
On a very busy evening, the service was very accommodating and everything was done with a smile. Every dish we had was top quality. A visit to the El Asador upstairs will, I think be incoming.
