TAST CATALANA
With Chef Paco Perez at the helm, Tast Catalana opened in King Street, Manchester in 2018.

Although we are in Manchester quite often to watch football, this evening, Manchester United vs Olympique Lyonnais, this was our first visit here, on this chilly Mancunian spring day.

They offer two different dining areas, both stylishly modern: a bar and terrace on the ground floor, and a casual Restaurant on the first floor.

After settling in and a few Estrella Damm beers, we started with sourdough bread, tomatoes, and evoo.

Padrón peppers.

Boquerones.

Cod fritters with lemon & honey foam.

Fresh squid with squid ink mayo.

Butifarra sausage with white beans.

With the starters, we had a bottle of Bardos Clea Verdejo 2023 D.O. Rueda.

The mains followed,
Fresh seabass with signature "El Txiringuito 1939" sauce, roasted baby potatoes and mushrooms.

Galician old cow txuleton,

Dry aged 25 days,

With roasted baby potatoes, padrón peppers and caramelised piquillo peppers.

With a bottle of El Mago Franck Massard Organic Garnacha Tinta 2023 D.O. Terra Alta

Dessert included,
Tarta de Santiago
Vanilla ice cream with Fernando Castilla PX.
Finishing off with a carajillo all around.
Service by the excellent Alberto was friendly, informative, and amusing.

As a side note, the match ended in a mad 5-4 win for Manchester United.
