RESTAURANTE ARTEAGA LANDETXEA   Michelin Bib Gourmand

During our three-night stay in the Basque Country town of Elorrio, the friendly duo of Niko Moreno and Maider Ugarriza of Hotela M&UGA organised a seven-seater taxi to take us to Restaurante Arteaga Landetxea for lunch.

The Restaurant was a twenty-minute drive away to Arrasate (Gipuzkoa) from Elorrio.

It is a restored historic farmhouse in the heart of the stunning Basque Countryside. 

It is run by Maider Larrañaga and Igor Ezpeleta. Maider is in charge of the dining room and acts as sommelier. Igor rules in the kitchen, showcasing the cuisine that is the true heart and soul of the Basque Country.

Once settled in, with the help of the excellent Maider, we ordered a bottle of Adur 2021 Getariako Txakolina.

Denominación de Origen Protegida (DOP) 

We started with, anchoas del Cantábrico en aceite.

Cantabrian anchovies in oil.

Txistorra de Arbizu a la Parrilla.

Grilled Arbizu Txistorra.

We then had a bottle of Marko Gurre Arbasoak 2023 Bizaiko Txakolina.

Followed by gamba blanca de Huelva a la plancha.

Grilled white prawn from Huelva.

We had two bottles of Bodegas Contador Predicador 2022 (D.O. Rioja).

To go with the two Txuleta de Mayor a la brasa.

Grilled Major Beef Chop with roasted red peppers.

We then went outside with a bottle of Bodegas Gómez Cruzado Pancrudo 2022 (D.O. Rioja)

Back inside for the desserts!

A selection of various house desserts.

With a bottle of Malus Mama.

An ice-concentrated sweet Basque apple cider without appellation.

With the excellent service from Maider, this was a fantastic lunch in a highly recommended restaurante.

All in a wonderful setting.
