IBIZA - SANT JOSEP - CALA DE BOU - CA N'ESMERALDA
RESTAURANTE CA N’ESMERALDA
This restaurant has been here for a couple of years now and is hidden away from the main town area of Sant Antoni de Portmany (San Antonio Abad), near the end of Cala de Bou, overlooking San Antonio Bay.
After our two of visits in 2018, we returned in July 2021, just after the slight easing of the Covid Lockdown. You were allowed to remove your masks to eat, which would have been quite difficult, otherwise!
We popped in for a light lunch, (do we really have light lunches!) and tried the following.
Pan aioli
Tomates asados, allioli, hilos de chili, y nuestro ingrediente especial
Pata de pulpo (octopus and potatoes)
Tartar de atún (tuna tartar)
Huevos rotas con foie (fried or broken eggs with potatoes and foie gras)
Vieiras al carbón (Charcoal scallops)
Scallops with a view
As usual, the service from the owner, Esmeralda, was very friendly.
They had opened in February but then had to close, due to the Covid pandemic and have only reopened recently.
Anyone coming to San Antonio is well advised to dine at this little gem, for an excellent lunch or dinner.
The following was from our meal in 2018
The interior decor is fabulous and the view from the terrace to the Mediterranean is beautiful.
You will find food, that is excellent and superbly presented.
On a hot midweek lunchtime, we tried several tapas and a few main courses, seated in the shaded part of the terrace.
They use, top-quality produce for all of their homemade dishes.
Pimientos de Padrón (Padrón peppers)
Patatas bravas de la casa (homemade fried potatoes and spicy sauce)
La Bomba de Barceloneta (deep-fried meat and potato balI, famous in Barcelona)
Calamares Andaluza con aioli de tinta (Andalusian style squid, with squid ink garlic mayonnaise)
Tiras de pollo crujiente (chicken fingers)
Gambas rojo a la sal (red prawns grilled on salt)
Pulpo a la brassa, patata violeta con salsa de pimentón ahumado (grilled octopus, green potato and smoked pimentón)
Foie escabechado (pickled foie gras)
Hamburguesa wagyu 200g (wagyu burger)
La piña a la brassa falso buba’al ron con helado de coco (grilled pineapple with false rum baba and coconut ice cream)
A very professional service was provided and I imagined the sunset would have been quite spectacular!
Something like this
A reasonably priced wine list is available.
It is a locals place but a few in the know tourists have now found it.
Highly recommended to everyone, who likes, good food with good vibes!!
Closed Tuesday.
