ALICANTE - CASTELLA - ASADOR IZASKUN
ASADOR IZASKUN
We had driven past the sign for Asador Izaskun lurking above the trees on the motorway the day before and I said to friends in the car that looks like it could be a nice restaurant. Without realising, this was to be our third and final restaurant visit on our short trip to Sax in Alicante to visit our friend Howard Goldsmith.
On arrival we found a restaurant set in beautiful surroundings with manicured gardens.
We where taken to a large dinning room with large window views to the gardens.
The restaurant can be used for large banquets, weddings etc.
The restaurant is Basque influenced and specialises in grilling fish and meat from that area.
This is what we had
Anchoas de Santoña del Canabrico (lata de 10 a 12 piezas) anchovies (Tin of 10 to 12 pieces)
Jamón ibérico de Jabugo 100gm (Iberian ham from Jabugo)
Chistorra a la sidra (a cured sausage from Aragon, the Basque Country, and Navarre and is cooked in Basque Cider)
1.5kg Chuleta de vaca vieja de Tolosa con proceso de maduración de 3 semanas (1.5kg old beef chop from Tolosa with a minimum of maturation of 3 weeks)
Degustación de repostería de la casa (selection of house pastries)
Finished off with coffees.
The were only two other tables occupied in the large dinning room this day and I have read some very bad reviews elsewhere from what seems like local Spanish customers about this restaurant. We can only comment on what we had and we have no complaints.
With one bottle of Pesquera D.O.Ribera del Duero 2015
The bill for 4 came to €161
