ALICANTE - ELDA - RESTAURANTE LA TORRETA
RESTAURANTE LA TORRETA
We visited this traditional road side restaurant in the Sax / Elda area of Alicante on the recommendation of our friend, Howard Goldsmith, who has lived in the area for 12 years.
It is run by two very friendly sisters who were our hosts for the day.
There is a large indoor seating room and a shaded outside terrace area for when the weather is good, which seems to be almost all of the time around here.
On this occasion we ate inside as the weather was a bit inclement, although on leaving the sun was back to its best.
The food was excellent and good value for the price
We started with a plate of grilled cheese on a bed of thinly sliced tomato drizzled in olive oil
Espárragos a la parrilla (grilled asparagus)
Boqueróne fritas (deep fired anchovies)
Chiperones a la plancha (tender grilled baby squid)
Mains include:
Merluza a la parrilla (grilled hake)
Lento asado de cordero cocido (la especialidad de la casa) slow cooked shoulder of lamb (the house speciality)
Chuleton (T Bone steak)
We had the following
Salmón fresco y gambas en salsa de cava (fresh salmon & prawns in cava sauce)
Chuletas de cordero a la parrilla (grilled lamb chops)
Solomillo (fillet steak)
Entrecote steak
A selection of deserts were then offered as well as excellent coffee.
Wines were 2 x Pesquera 2014 at €24 each.
and we finished with a glass of Pedro Ximénez
It is a nice place for lunch and dinner or even for a special event (groups are catered for) and would be a great location on a summers day.
Service is very friendly and attentive.
The bill for six people well fed and happy customers came to €216
