RESTAURANT CALA d’HORT (CA NA VERGERA)

This mythical restaurant is also known as Ca na Vergera (the nickname of the family that continues to own and work here). It is one of the last authentic places left in Ibiza’s south.

In the late sixties, Joan Vergera acquired the restaurant's land and built a small hut where his wife could work.

Joan went fishing with his llaüt, a small Ibicencan fishing boat named “Adolfo.” When he returned, his wife, Maria, prepared a meal with the catch he had brought home. The clientele mainly consisted of other local fishermen, as tourism had not yet reached Cala d’Hort.
The beach was so remote that Joan had to deliver supplies by sea. Eventually, the road reached Cala d’Hort, and the restaurant Ca na Vergera gained popularity.

In the mid-eighties, the restaurant expanded and transformed into what it is today, featuring a stunning terrace overlooking the mysterious islets of Es Vedrà and Es Vedranell.

The couple’s eldest son manages the restaurant, while his six siblings work in the kitchen. Other relatives and friends assist by serving customers. It is a modest establishment in a tropical paradise where fish and rice dishes are prepared and served in an authentic Ibicencan style.
Local bread, olives, and homemade aioli.

Local Salad

The speciality here is baked fish and rice dishes.
We had mixed paella

With Seafood.

Local Ibicencan gambas

You should also try the guisat de peix, a fish stew made with local rock fish like monkfish, scorpionfish, and skate. It is very tasty and can be served with arroz a banda as a second course.
Many people have breakfast between 10 and 12, then enjoy the day at the beach.

And wait for the sunset.

Open every day apart from the closed months of January to April.
