DONOSTIA-SAN SEBASTIÁN - PARTE VIEJA - GANDARIAS JATETXEA
GANDARIAS JATETXEA
We returned to Casa Gandarias in October 2021 for our regular fill of pintxo de solomillo and red wine!

We had a bottle of El Lagar de Isilla Paraje Peñalobos Tinta del Pais 2018 DOC Ribera del Duero.

This was a good match with the solomillo.

Previous visits her are seen below,

This is one of our favourite bars in Donostia parte vieja (San Sebastián old town)

You will find excellent, old-style, top quality pintxos, in this always buzzy, traditional bar and restaurant

The bar is always laden with pintxos or you can order the freshly cooked hot options.

Gulas (fake elvers (baby eels)

These pintxos are always good:
Gernikako piperra (Gernika peppers)
(these are seasonal and available in summer only and not hot like Padrón peppers)
Setas con jamón (Mushrooms and Jamón)

Pintxo gilda (guindilla pepper, green olive and fresh anchovy - named after Rita Haywood - hot, tall and spicy)
Anchoa vinagreta (anchovies marinated in vinegar)

The house special solomillo (sirloin steak)

A racione of almejas (calms)

In the restaurant a must have, is vaca vieja txuleton (old cow rib eye steak).
Try the house red, excellent Marques Vitoria (€1.70 a glass). You can also buy top wines by the glass like Vega Sicillia (around €16)

Service is friendly, quick and efficient.

They now have a delicatessen a few doors along selling all kinds of excellent local produce
