SEGOVIA - RESTAURANTE JOSE MARIA
SEGOVIA - MESÓN DE JOSÉ MARÍA Michelin plate IIO If you are looking for a traditional Spanish food experience, then Mesón De José Maria, a conventional Castilian Tavern off of Plaza Mayor, is the place for you. The restaurant has been here since 1982. Walk into the busy bar, and you will find it filled with a mix of locals, from those taking a break at the end of the day to families who wheel their baby prams into the bar to catch up with friends and family to enjoy a drink

ENGLAND - MANCHESTER - TAST CATALANA
TAST CATALANA Michelin Bib Gourmand With Chef Paco Perez at the helm, Tast Catalana opened in King Street, Manchester in 2018. Although we are in Manchester quite often to watch football, this evening, Manchester United vs Olympique Lyonnais, this was our first visit here, on this chilly Mancunian spring day. They offer two different dining areas, both stylishly modern: a bar and terrace on the ground floor, and a casual Restaurant on the first floor. After settling in and

IBIZA - SANT ANTONY DE PORTMANY - S-MARI COCINA BAR
I've walked past S-Mari Cocina Bar countless times, thinking it was just another hostal with a bar. I even had breakfast there once, ages ago. But a friend recommended it for dinner, and I decided to give it another shot. To my surprise, it turned out to be a classy and welcoming local Restaurant. It's a delightful escape from the hustle and bustle of central San Antonio. Breakfast Bliss Every morning, they offer a fantastic breakfast selection. If you're craving a traditiona

IBIZA - SANT ANTONI DE PORTMANY - ES GERRET
ES GERRET One of the new upscale restaurants in Sant Antoni de Portmany (San Antonio) goes against the town's preconceived image. There is a terrace and a large indoor seating area. We started with tartar de atún (tuna tartar). Calamare panko (deep-fried squid rings coated in panko breadcrumbs). Patatas bravas. Spicy potatoes. Gambas ajillo (sizzling garlic prawns). We had the highly recommended Crema de pistacho (pistachio cream) for dessert. We had a bottle of the very acce

SEGOVIA - AN OVERNIGHT FOOD TRIP FOR COCHINILLO
SEGOVIA During our visit to Madrid, we stayed one night in Segovia (it is also an easy day trip from Madrid; it's a short 25-minute ride by high-speed train, but feels like a world away the minute you arrive). We stayed at ÁUREA CONVENTO CAPUCHINOS Five Stars Plaza de Capuchinos, 2, 40001 Segovia +34 921 41 52 50 www.eurostarshotels.com The hotel is in a beautiful old convent, absolutely stunning, comfortable, in an excellent location in the old town, a short walk from the

BASQUE COUNTRY - BILBAO - RESTAURANTE ASADOR TXAKOLI SIMÓN
RESTAURANTE ASADOR TXAKOLI SIMÓN After a 15/20 minute walk from the Funicular de Artxanda (funicular railway), you arrive high above Bilbao at Restaurante Asador Txakolli Simón. The Friesian breed of cow is the favourite of Óscar García, the grill master at this restaurant, which stands out for its value for money. On busy days here, eight strips (rib strips) can be dispatched in a single service. When the sun is shining in Bilbao, you go to Artxanda, the viewpoint of Bilbao

DONOSTIA-SAN SEBASTIÁN - PINTXO BAR CRAWL
For this visit to San Sebastian in June 2025, we concentrated on pintxos rather than sit-down meals. We started our pintxo tour in Parte Vieja (the old town). We always prefer hot pintxos, as they are made to order. The pintxos on the bar are not a problem, but you may eat too much bread! We tend to have no more than two pintxos and a glass of wine or beer per bar, so we don't get too full too early. The best time to visit the pintxo bars is 8.30 —10.30 pm. Several pintxo bar

BASQUE COUNTRYSIDE - GETARIA - RESTAURANTE ELKANO - POST 2
RESTAURANTE ELKANO One Michelin Star Getaria is the picture-postcard Basque Country fishing village that produced designer Cristóbal Balenciaga, Plácido Domingo's mother, and Juan Sebastián Elcano (the first mariner to circumnavigate the globe). You can wander down the old streets to the harbour, where you will see the fishing fleet, walking past various shops selling their wares. There are stunning little beaches on either side of town. Set on a crossroads above the harbo

ANDALUCÍA - CÁDIZ - SANLÚCAR DE BARRAMEDA - CASA BALBINO
CASA BALBINO Sanlúcar de Barrameda (or simply Sanlúcar) is a city in the north-west of Cádiz province, part of the autonomous community of Andalucía in southern Spain. Sanlúcar is situated on the left bank of the Guadalquivir River, at its mouth, opposite the Doñana National Park. Sanlúcar de Barrameda is one of Spain's three best-known sherry-producing towns. (The other two are Jerez de la Frontera, for which sherry is named, and El Puerto de Santa María.) Although a seaside

ANDALUSIA - CÁDIZ - RESTAURANTE SONÁMBULO
RESTAURANTE SONÁMBULO A second review from our friend Bill Benham, on his brief visit to Cádiz. This Restaurant is in a hidden spot with a beautiful interior. You will fall for the simplicity of the interior, featuring attractive retro and rustic details, along with plants and flowers that embellish the walls. Their modern fusion cuisine combines traditional and exotic ingredients to create innovative dishes. We had a fabulous night in this fantastic Restaurant with excel
