ASADOR ETXEBARRI 1 Michelin Star
Not the easiest place to find, this beautiful, rustic, restored stone house, is a couple of km out of town. It has a bar at the entrance on the ground floor and a couple of stunning dining rooms on the first floor.
All the high quality produce is cooked on various charcoal grills by the renowned chef Victor Arguinzoniz who well deserves his one Michelin star. There is no molecular stuff here, just fresh quality food with their unique flavours enhanced from the smoke and grill.

The tasting Menu is €125 + vat and includes such delights as:
Mantequillade leche de cabre y sal negra (butter smoked on the grill with black salt)
Burrata de bufala
Anchoa al salazon sobre tosta de pan (anchovies on toast)
Ostras con algas marinas (oysters)
Gambas de Palamós (Large red prawns from Palamós)
Espardeña con alubias (sea cucumber with beans)
Hongos y berenjana (mushroom and aubergine)
Revuleto de trufa blanca (warm egg yoke with white truffles)
Mero y verduras (grouper with vegetables)
Chuleta de Vaca (10 year old cow beef chop)
Helado de leche reducida infusion de frutus rojos (ice cream infused with red fruit reduction)
Souffle de Castañas
The excellent wine list has prices equivalent of the UK retail price
Service was a bit abrupt.
It is around 100 km from San Sebastian, South of Bilbao.
Closed 23rd December - 7th January, August and Mondays.
