LA CHISMOSA CHIRINGUITO CALA OLIVERA

We returned to Cala Olivera to visit the new beach bar, La Chismosa Chiringuito Cala Olivera, which has replaced the previous Hydrogen beach bar that, unfortunately, we did not particularly like.

On first impression, La Chismosa Chiringuito Cala Olivera appears much better.

It is situated on a stunning little bay that features white sands and overhanging cliffs, providing much-needed shade during the summer months.

The crystal-clear water is filled with marine life, making it an ideal spot for snorkelling.

The chiringuito is somewhat hidden, down a long, dusty camino to a small, yet stunningly beautiful bay. This adds to its charm when you finally arrive at the end of the path to discover it.

We found the ladies running the chiringuito very friendly and accommodating, creating a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. Reservations are not accepted; therefore, the establishment operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

We had to wait at the bar for a table, where we had a few beers (I had a Pepsi since I was driving) while taking in a wonderful view of the beach.

Once seated, we had cazuela de calamares y gambas (squid and prawn casserole, which I had seen someone eating whilst at the bar, an excellent choice with a lovely spicy sauce).

Sepia con ensalada (cuttlefish salad)

Sardinas con ensalada (sardine salad)

Dorada con patatas (seabream with crisps)

The meal was complemented by a bottle of La Duda Godello 2024, a crisp, aromatic white wine from the D.O. Monterrei region of Galicia. This wine is known for its excellent balance of volume and acidity, featuring vibrant notes of stone fruit and citrus. It pairs wonderfully with seafood.

After the meal, we headed to the beach for a refreshing swim to cool off.

We visited on a Sunday, and it was very busy at 2 pm when we arrived, which is typically early for lunch in Ibiza. I recommend arriving by 1 pm to secure a table, especially on Sundays or during the busy summer months.

The service was funny and friendly.

The nearest Town or Village is Cala Llonga or the Roca Llisa golf complex.
