BAR SAN JUAN

After a few local recommendations, we have been meaning to come to this restaurant in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, on the outskirts of Manchester, for some time. On this cold Monday evening in November, we finally made it.
This restaurant is a traditional bar, serving authentic tapas. The atmosphere indoors is cosy and full of character, with bullfighting posters. This is a nice place to go to eat in Manchester.

We picked quite a few of the tapas:
Jamo croquetas (ham croquettes)

Pimientos de Padrón

Gambas pil pil ( chilli and garlic tiger prawns)

Pulpo a la Gallega (Galician style octopus)

Saquitos de cordero (pulled lamb parcels)

Chistorra a la sidra (spicy sausage in cider)

Papas bravas (fried potatoes with a spicy sauce)

Costillas de res con glaseado de miel (beef ribs with honey glaze, chilli and spring onion)

Filete de cerdo con salsa de almendras y cebolla caramelizada (pork fillet with almond sauce and caramelised onion)

Natillas caseras & Tarta de Santiago

There is a reasonably priced wine list, but we only had a couple of beers on this occasion.

All staff are super friendly and welcoming. If you want a quick trip to Spain without paying for an expensive airline ticket, this is a good place to start.
You can try a walk-in, and sometimes you may get lucky. But if you're planning to go for a specific time, I definitely recommend booking.
