THE BOAB TREE
We recently visited The Boab Tree Restaurant in Estepona, situated in the heart of the Old Town.

The restaurant is family-owned and named after the majestic Boab tree, a symbol of strength, resilience, and community. The owner, Jorge, originally hails from Granada but lived in New York before relocating. He brought his American wife, Anissa, and their daughter, and sold everything to pursue this dream venture in Estepona.

The Boab Tree features Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, wine, and art. Original artwork is displayed throughout the restaurant, and you will probably encounter some local artists working on their canvases during your visit.

It has been open for a couple of years now and is a great place to spend an evening eating and enjoying all the artwork on display.
We enjoyed various dishes from the menu.

Taco de atún rojo (bluefin tuna taco).

Berenjenas tempuradas con miel (perfectly crisp and not oily, tempura aubergines with honey).

Nueces de achicoria caramelizadas, camembert tibio y ensalada de pera (caramelised chicory salad with walnuts, warm Camembert, and pears was an excellent, perfectly balanced combination).

From the main dishes.

Tataki de atún rojo con verduras asadas sobre salsa teriyaki (perfect bluefin tuna tataki with roasted vegetables on teriyaki sauce).

Solomillo de ternera con patatas fritas (beef tenderloin paired with crispy French fries, a delicious, perfectly cooked, tender steak).

Tarta de manzana con helado de vainilla (a stunning apple pie with vanilla ice cream, eaten before we could take a picture!).
We enjoyed an excellent Albariño from their varied and interesting wine selection.

The Boab Tree is a wonderful spot with warm, friendly owners who put their hearts into every little detail. You can truly feel the love they’ve poured into this place, and they deserve all the luck that may come their way.
