IBIZA - SANT JOSEP - CALA CARBÓ - RESTAURANT BALNEARI
RESTAURANT BALNEARI
We paid a long-overdue visit to restaurant Balneari in Cala Carbó.

The restaurant has been part of this small Ibiza cove since 1974, when it began life as a simple beach kiosk.

Founded by Pepe Benet, the restaurant became one of the best-known traditional fish establishments in the southern part of the island. After Pepe retired, the business was transferred in 2005 to Antonio “Toni” Torres, one of his trusted employees. Toni now manages the restaurant.
More than 50 years later, it retains the uncomplicated character of an old-style Ibizan beach restaurant.
Its speciality is fresh local fish and seafood, particularly oven-cooked fish finished on the grill, as well as bullit de peix, arroz a banda, arroz ciego, grilled seafood and fish platters.
In the super-relaxing atmosphere, start with a delicious homemade cava sangria (cava sangría).

Pimientos de Padrón (Padrón peppers).

Tomate, bonito y anchoas (tomato, tuna and anchovies).

Almejas a la marinera (clams in a fisherman-style sauce).

Pepino de mar (sea cucumber).

Paella de pescado y marisco (fish and seafood paella).

Lubina a la sal (sea bass baked in salt).

The food and the service were flawless. You’ll even see one of the owners, Toni, serving tables and making sure everyone is happy. After a long lunch, it’s best to chill on the beach.

Then take a cooling swim. The amazing location means you can climb a few rocks to watch the sunset, then come back and drink more.
