ILLA DES CANAR

Replacing the former Mar Bella on this site, this new restaurant opened in July 2024.

They serve delicious, typical Ibicencan food in an unbeatable location on the beach,

with stunning sea views and prices not generally seen on the island for such quality.

There is no beach club stuff here, with the new owner being a local Ibicencan.

Some of the dishes available include,
Ensalada de Costras (typical of Formentera, bread crust and dried fish)
Humus y parrilla de verduras ibicencas (hummus and grilled Ibizan vegetables)
Bullit de Peix (fish stew)
Paella
Arroz negro (black rice)
Arroz con bogavante (rice with lobster).
Flaó (local cheesecake)
Greixonera (a typical Ibicencan dessert prepared with old ensaimadas (beware, vegans, they contain lard), milk, eggs, and sugar. The Greixonera takes its name from the traditional clay pot used to prepare it in the Balearic Islands.
We had pan con alioli and olives.

Ensalada Payesa (local salad of tomato, onion, roasted green & red peppers, and boiled potatoes).

Patatas a la parrilla con mantequilla de ajo (baked potatoes with garlic butter).

Calamar a la plancha (grilled squid).

A selection of starters.

Arroz Ciego

It is known as blind paella, where the shellfish are pre-shelled for easier eating.

We had a couple of Cerveza La Rubia 18/70. Although they were pretty nice, at 6.2%, they were a bit too strong for lunchtime!

So we moved on to the local caña. We did not have any wine this time.

The service was helpful, friendly, and amusing.
It is an excellent addition to Es Cana if you want to try the local cuisine.
