RESTAURANTE LA CASONA DEL VINO

After a 30-minute drive up north, from our base in Los Cristianos, in the south of the Island, we arrived at this traditional Tenerife Restaurant on the east coast, where you will receive a sunny Canarian welcome at Tenerife's House of Wine.

If you wish to eat what the locals eat, as we usually do, ask for the signature dish, arroz caldoso de marisco y pescado. This Restaurant in Candelaria produces excellent, tasty, soupy seafood, fish, and rice main course, which can be mopped up with chunks of freshly baked bread.

There is also a large vegetarian and vegan menu available, featuring zarangollo, courgette, onion, oregano, and potatoes. Also, a roasted tofu dish with three mojos (traditional Canarian sauces, with the reddest being the most piquant (hot).

This lunchtime, we had,

Saquitos de langostinos con verdura y un toque picante (shrimp parcels and vegetables and a touch of spice).

Batata con salsa de almogrote (sweet potato with almogrote sauce, a Canarian sauce of tomatoes, cheese, garlic, sweet pimenton and olive oil).

Langostinos al ajillo (garlic prawns).

Arroz caldoso de pescado y marisco (soupy fish and seafood rice).

Tarta de hojaldre (puff pastry cake).

Tarta de la casa (house cake).

There are plenty of Vinos Canarios and wines from other denominations. On this rare occasion, we did not have any alcohol.

Excellent, well-priced food, with extremely friendly staff.

Our meal for 3 with coffee, water and bread cost €84.
