CASA LOLA

We were with Mark Walsh of @walshjewellery, looking for a few tapas in Malaga, so we stopped by the buzzy Casa Lola for lunch.

Located in the centre of Málaga, Casa Lola is a popular bar favoured by locals. It offers a wide selection of tapas at very reasonable prices, along with a daily special that provides excellent value for those on a tight budget.

You can choose a few pinchos and tapas to enjoy at the bar with a drink or take a seat at a table.

We had a pincho cojoundo (huevo de codorniz a la plancha con chorizo picante - grilled quail egg with spicy chorizo) at the bar, before taking a table seat.

Jamón Ibérico de Cebo D.O. Guijuelo (cereal and grain-fed pigs from Salamanca; they are not fed on wild acorns, but the ham is still of very good quality and more affordable).

Selección de Croquetas (rabo de toro, jamón, queso payoyo, sepia - oxtail, ham, local cheese and cuttlefish croquettes).

Pimientos de padrón (padron peppers, as the saying goes, “some are hot, some are not”).

Langostinos al pil-pil de Lola (garlic prawns sizzling in Casa Lola’s spicy house sauce).

Pinchito de gambas a la plancha (brochetas de gambas a la plancha - grilled prawn kebabs).

Hamburguesa Chúleton (con mayonesa de trufa, tocino, queso payoyo y champiñones plancha - T-bone steak burger with truffle mayonnaise, bacon, country cheese, and grilled mushrooms).

They offer an excellent traditional house vermouth, a drink which currently seems to be the favourite Spanish drink of the moment.

Casa Lola is a vibrant spot that is always bustling, where you can people-watch from its terrace on one side and look out over one of the city’s most lively areas on the other.
