ALFREDO BAR RESTAURANTE
Mark Walsh returned to one of his favourite spots in San Pedro de Alcántara, just outside Marbella.

It is a family-run business established in 1981. It is a little bit out of the way and doesn’t look that great from the outside, but once you get inside, it’s like being transported back to ’80s Spain.

The decor reminds me of when I went to Spain as a kid. You will find a large dining room with old Spanish pictures and bullfighting memorabilia.

The restaurant is popular with locals and visitors alike for classic, traditional Andalusian food (meat and seafood dishes) served in generous portions. You can look in the chiller cabinet to see what is available that day.

You will find it a great place to eat proper Spanish food with plenty to choose from.
Croquetas (various croquettes)
Almejas (calams)
Dorada a la plancha (grilled sea bream)
Rabo de buey (oxtail)
Solomillo de ternera (sirloin steak)
Parrillada mixta (mixed grills)
On this occasion, we had:
Jamón Iberico de Bellota (acorn-fed ham).

Pulpo a la plancha con patatas (octopus, potatoes).

Chuletas de cordero con pimientos verdes y patatas fritas (grilled succulent lamb cutlets with green peppers and chips).

To finish; Tarta de Santiago. Brandy and liquers.

They have a fabulous wine list, with a selection of wines running down one wall.
As usual, we were impressed with the service and food. The atmosphere is fantastic, and the staff are super helpful and informative.
