CATALUNYA - BARCELONA - CERVECERIA CATALANA
CERVECERIA CATALANA Michelin IIO
April 2022
A return to this restaurant in April 2022 for a few tapas, when Covid-19 restrictions were still in place.
All tables were spaced out and with plastic shields at the bar area.
Anchoas escalivar.
The restaurant was not as busy as in previous visits but that is understandable due to the Covid-19 restrictions still in place.
A previous visit in more convivial times.
This is an excellent spot for tapas, at the bar or a full blown meal in the restaurant. There nearly always seems to be a queue confirming the quality of food you will find here. The above picture was taken at nearly 2 am.
The food here should satisfy all gourmet requirements, thanks to the opulence and variety of its menu.
Also, it is open later then most bars, I believe orders are taken until 1.30 am, so good to know if you fancy a late bite.
We rolled up at midnight on a Tuesday to find the bar area still packed to the rafters. After ten minutes we managed to find a seat at the bar on the left of the entrance and began to order. All the tapas here are cooked to order.
We had,
Pimientos de Padrón (Padrón peppers)
Camember crujte (crunchy camembert)
Patatas bravas with alioli (fried potatoes with spicy bravas sauce and garlic mayonnaise)
Surtido cremosa de setas (creamy assortment of mushrooms)
Navajas (razor clams)
Kebab de gambas (prawn kebab)
Solomillo con pimiento de Padrón (sirloin steak with a Padrón pepper)
Solomillo con foie (sirloin steak with foie gras)
The buzzy atmosphere is great at this time of night, although, it was after a Barcelona football match, certainly a good place to come for a drink and few tapas after the game. The service was quick, friendly and unrushed considering how busy it was that night.
To drink we had six glasses of the house verdejo at €3.10 and the bill for three people came to a reasonable €66.10.
