HOSTAL RESTAURANTE CAPRI

Located around 100 metres from the seafront in the little tourist village of Es Pujols, this restuarant/hostal is one of oldest (since 1963) on the island and has always been owned by the same family.

If you are looking for 100% fresh fish, seafood and rice dishes, and a non-hectic, calming place with white tablecloths and pressed napkins in a relaxed atmosphere, where cooks are trained and know what they are doing, well, you have come to the right place. Capri is all about food and service, with no pretence.

The old school staff are really attentive, friendly and professional.

It is in a beautiful setting with a covered outside dining area, which has twinkling fairy lights

surrounded with foliage, it is a tranquil oasis, indeed.

I would recommend it for a romantic meal for couples, it is also suitable for families too.

We asked for, gambas de Formentera a la plancha but they were off the menu that day, so we were offered gamba congelada which were actually very nice and cheaper!

Guisado de pescado (fish stew) Caldereta de langosta (lobster stew) Parrillada de la Casa (grill of the house) Paella de fideuá de marisco y bogavante (noodle paella with seafood and lobster) Paella de fideos (sólo marisco) (noodle paella with seafood only) Arroz Negro (black rice) Solomillo de ternera (beef tenderloin)

We had bullit de pescado y arroz a banda (which comes in two courses)

Bullit de pescado (a local classic of rock fish stew with saffron sauce)

The sauce is added to the fish

Followed by arroz a banda (a paella type dish, made with the broth left over from the stew with added cuttlefish pieces)

There are a few local desserts available and the ubiquitous crema Catalana

There is a menu del dia for €20, not huge but quite adequate.
