BODEGA BAR EL PIMPI
This boisterous bar, right in the historical city centre, next to the Alcazaba is one of the most famous bars in Malaga.
El Pimpi is mentioned in every tourist guide imaginable.
Despite having a reputation of being a tourist hotspot, this restaurant has managed to maintain the quality of its food for which it first became famous. It is also very well-priced.
The place is an interesting maze like building with a series of rooms with different styles and cultural experiences.

They serve excellent Jamón Ibérico de Bellota (€21)
With good local Bodegas Málaga wine, like Pernales, by the glass (€2.50).
There is a large outside seating area with nice views of the Alcazaba. There are two entrances, Calle Granada and the other in Calle Jardines Alcazabilla, which has the outside terrace.
The bar dates from the nineteenth century, when there were boys at the port of Málaga, who helped passengers off the boats and ships and carried their suitcases and belongings to their place of residence for them.
They were known as pimpis. Over time the pimpis grew in number and became the first tour guides in town. They had special bikes which the used to drive around town on. After getting organised, they began to run a tavern opposite the Roman Theatre. This tavern, the now famous bodega bar El Pimpi, became a popular meeting place for youngsters and tourists alike and the rest, as they say, is now history.
