RESTAURANT SALVADÓ

This is an old-school, typical Ibicencan fish restaurant north of the island in Sant Carles de Peralta (San Carlos).

Featuring fresh fish and rice dishes with a solid wine list and stunning sea views overlooking the little coves of Canal d’en Marti and Pou des Lleó

Any lunch or evening meal at restaurant Salvadó is quintessentially Ibicencan and worth the trip.

You start with an appetiser of high-quality bread, aioli, and olives.

Calamare a la plancha (grilled squid)

There are also paellas and other rice dishes.

The house’s speciality is bullit de peix (a traditional Ibicencan fish, saffron, and potato stew).

The first course is the fish platter (made of local rockfish), potatoes, and saffron broth.

Rice, crabs, baby squid, and mussels are added to the remaining broth and served as a second course.

It’s a spectacular treat for the senses.

Try flaó (homemade cheesecake) or graixonera (a local cinnamon-based bread pudding) for dessert.

Finish with the local speciality, Café Caleta (coffee with brandy and spices added), which is somewhat dangerous. Tables are shared, which adds to the friendly atmosphere.

There is a general humility in basic, good-quality food like rice, potatoes, and fresh fish, and hours of loving preparation go into making these dishes. After your meal, sit back, relax, and enjoy the stunning view.
