LONDON - SOHO - EMBER YARD
EMBER YARD
This review is from 2017.
At a recent visit in September 2021 the food was not as good as previous visits and in a couple of cases it was poor which was dissapointing.
Located in the ever busy Soho, Ember Yard serves up excellent Spanish / Italian tapas cooked over Basque charcoal grill (embers, get it?) from the people behind Salt Yard, Dehesa and Opera Tavern.
This is the latest in a mini-chain of London’s highly rated new-style Tapas bars. Setting this art deco restaurant and bar apart is the method used for cooking.
The Spanish and Italian plates are cooked over charcoal from the open kitchen. This not only adds a sense of authenticity, but also means that each dish has a uniquely smoky fingerprint.

Modern take on a Carajillo
It can get very busy in the evening but is ok for lunch. It's a noisy and lively room, or two rooms as there is also a large and pleasant basement with its own bar.
There is also a private room that can accommodate parties of up to 18 people
There is a very good Spanish and Italian wine list that is reasonably priced for London. We had 2 glasses of each below. Both excellent. Campo Flores (Verdejo/Sauvignon Blanc, Castilla-Leon) 2012 - £6 175mil
Pittacum (Mencia, Bierzo) 2008 - £10 175mil
