CAMBIO DE TERCIO

Under Abel Lusa's long-term, excellent hospitality and guidance and chef Alberto Criado's (Twitter @Alberto_Criado) creative dishes, Cambio de Tercio has become a standard bearer for Iberian food in London. Most Hispanophiles consider it the best in town.

You can choose from the traditional tapas menu, an inventive á la carte menu, or the reasonably priced tasting menu.

On a recent visit, we had this tasting menu.

Andalusian gazpacho, steamed king prawns & cherry ice cream

Cod brandade, tomato water & cristal toast

New season white asparagus, almond vinaigrette & tarragon foam

Wild Cornish turbot roasted with sprouting broccoli, black olives & tomato

Roasted quail stuffed with Iberian pork, pickled purple kale & roasted quince fruit

Sweet Oloroso custard, meringue & tonka beans ice cream

White chocolate bonbon with passion fruit blast

Calamari with Alioli

Gambas a la plancha, aceite ajo y limon (king prawns "a la plancha" garlic, parsley oil)

Chuletillas de cordero a la parrilla, pure de patata con epinacas (Grilled lamb cutlets, thyme, Spinach mash)

Cochinillo (Suckling Pig)

A vegetarian-tasting menu is also available, which would be an infrequent occurrence in Spain!

You will also find some fun deserts like

The wonderfully long and varied Spanish wine list includes more than 500 labels from virtually every wine-growing region in Spain. From a pleasant cava from Juve y Camps to a block-busting (and pocket-busting) red like Vega Sicilia Reserva Especial or a Pingus 1995 (don't ask how much!)

It's always an enjoyable evening here, and you will likely bump into a famous footballer, tennis player or pop star. Service is informal and friendly.

There are two evening sittings - 7 pm and 9.15 pm
