IBIZA - CALA DE BOU - RESTAURANTE CAN PUJOL

RESTAURANTE CAN PUJOL

We returned to Can Pujol in September 2022, after previously visiting during the height of Covid-19 in 2020 and all the restrictions involved. It was great to see everything seemed to be back to normal. It started, as a small snack bar over thirty years ago. It is now, a no-frills restaurant, serving superb seafood.

We decided to try dishes we had not had in previous visits and started with some ostras (oysters.

Almejas Marinera (clams in fishermens sauce).

Parrillada mixta de pescado (mixed fish grill).

Paella de langosta.

Lobster paella.

All the food was excellent, as expected. To finish the meal we were served a very large measure of Carlos I brandy, which required a little siesta later on in the afternoon. Be aware, no meat is served here.

The following were from our visit in 2022.

All the seafood dishes are based on traditional Ibicencan recipes.

There is an open kitchen, that allows you to see all the chefs busy at work.

There is a live tank, where you can choose your lobster if you wish.

You must try El Bullit de Peix con Arroz a Banda de Can Pujol, which is the house classic.

The dish comes in two courses: A soup-like, first course, made with local rockfish in a saffron broth.

Followed, by Arroz a Banda,

A paella-like rice dish, made with the fish stock from the first course plus small cuttlefish pieces.

All the local dishes, like paella and fideuà and whiskey lobster (the other house classic), are available. A large fish dish, baked in the oven, to share, would be another excellent choice.

Local desserts and wine are available and are reasonably priced. Service was friendly and helpful, having to wear a covid mask in these times with social distancing.

Most of the tables are on the outside terrace, overlooking the stunning Sant Antoni bay.

It is also a great spot to sit and enjoy, one of the famous Ibizan sunsets, whilst, devouring fabulous seafood and wine.

Closed Wednesday.
