Jonathon Lipsin writes - This is my favourite side of the Island for swimming, situated on platja de Migjorn and where I used to live behind the Piratabus. I enjoying visiting this little chiringuito, La Franja after my swim.

A chiringuito is basically a wooden shack on the beach selling basic sandwiches, tapas, cold beers and wine

The people are friendly and the service is quick, unlike the more popular chiringuitos, like Bartolo's and Piriatabus at he other end of platja de Migjorn I can usually grab a table when I want.

Here the mother makes tortilla & cheese omelette like she's been doing for some 45 years and makes it every morning.

Her daughter Sandra and her husband own the place and my friend Bernadette has known her since she was a small girl as well as her mother and her grandmother from many years ago.

I can come out of the sea, walk a short distance with my feet in the tide and be here at La Franja in a few minutes.

I sip a cold beer and order a tortilla or their cheese omelette (which is also very good) and the world is as simple

and as well as it should, as I relax and stare out to the open sea.

Life is good here!
