New on the Spanish scene in the north of England, Ibérica comes with an excellent reputation from London. The venue is on a split level, bar on the ground floor, dining room upstairs, All is overseen by executive chef Nacho Manzano, of two Michelin Star Casa Marcial and one Michelin Star La Salgar in Spain.

There are 3 Jamón Iberico's to choose from:

Extrem Puro Extremadura from Montánchez, D.O. Extremadura.

Juan Pedro Domecq from Jabugo, D.O. Huelva.

Covap Alta Expresión from D.O. Los Pedroches, Córdoba.

A sample menu consists of :

Gazpacho with red berries, beetroot & anchovies.

Milhojas de escalivada with smoked & roasted aubergine & red peppers (v)

Asparagus, manchego, onion confit & true oil toast (v)

Potatoes with spicy brava or alioli sauce (v)

Padrón peppers with Maldon salt (v)

Spring onion tempura with lemon alioli & soy sauce (v)

Aubergine, honey & pinenuts (v)

Ibérica’s Serrano ham croquettes.

Traditional Spanish omelette (v)

Creamy black rice with squid, prawns & alioli sauce.

Octopus a la gallega with potatoes & pimentón de la Vera.

Fried fresh squid with alioli sauce.

Ensaladilla Rusa with tuna, carrot, green olives & Piparra peppers.

Fish (hake) & chips.

Grilled prawns with mushrooms .

The Ibérica burger with secreto pork loin & Piparra peppers.

Fried chorizo lollipops with pear alioli sauce.

Chicken with chilindrón sauce & rosemary potatoes.

Chickpea puree with chorizo, pancetta & tomato salad.

Twice cooked lamb, marinated cherry tomatoes & red peppers from El Bierzo.

Butifarra (Catalan sausage)with trinxat catalan.

There are various paella's and mains include :

Sea trout with almond puree, pickled cauliflower & smoked olive oil

Hake, clams & lemon parmentier.

Pitu rice Slow cooked fen chicken with rice, Piquillo peppers & saron.

Gloria cachopo Fried beef & Ibérico pork patty filled with Asturian cheeses.

Crispy confit of D.O. Segovia’s suckling pig, apple puree & frisée salad.

Rib-eye (200g) with Cabrales ceese sauce.

Desserts :

Caramelised Spanish rice pudding

La tarta de la abuela.

Gloria cheesecake with Galician parmesan & dried strawberries.

Torrija soaked in Baileys with red wine syrup & vanilla ice cream.

Trío of cheeses with quince & apple.

There is an excellent all Spanish wine list with a choice of 5 sherrys and a good cava sangria.

Service is friendly but slow and a little chaotic. Hoprefully teething problems, that will be resolved.

Beware the toilets! a mirror corridor takes you to a common wash area with ladies & gents cubicles in the same room.
