Hostal Marino

On our return to Hostal Marino in July 2020, after a couple of years of absence, we came across a few changes.

The outside of the hostal had completely changed.

This, I believe, was for local legislation regarding balconies being made more secure and slightly higher.

But inside was the biggest change, the swimming pool was not there anymore!

This is because, the hosta, are building a new 27 room 4-star hotel in the space next door, which is taking part of the area where the swimming pool was. The new hotel will have a swimming pool on the roof and guests at Hostal Marino will be able to use it. There...

Jonathon Lipsin writes - This is my favourite side of the Island for swimming, situated on platja de Migjorn and where I used to live behind the Piratabus. I enjoying visiting this little chiringuito, La Franja after my swim.

A chiringuito is basically a wooden shack on the beach selling basic sandwiches, tapas, cold beers and wine

The people are friendly and the service is quick, unlike the more popular chiringuitos, like Bartolo's and Piriatabus at he other end of platja de Migjorn I can usually grab a table when I want.

Here the mother makes tortilla & cheese omelette like she's been doing for s...

Recently take over by the Mambo Group and renamed CASA MACA, so not sure if the information is still correct at this time (May 2018)

Down a bumpy rural camino, just one km from Eivissa (Ibiza town), the 300-year old main building of this boutique hotel sits at the base of pine covered hills and is surrounded by almond, fig, carob and fruit trees.

it has been lovingly restored to its original white walled perfection.

This excellent hotel offers a relaxing countryside location, including breathtaking views to the sea and UNESCO world heritage listed site Dalt Vila (the old walled town of Ibiza)  plus easy acc...

Finca Listonero

Reborn after the terrible raging wildfire that swept across the Sierra Cabrera and into the valley at Cortijo Grande and destroyed the previous fabulous incarnation in 2009.

Finca Listonero is back and is just as fabulous and now run by Ian and Sandra.

They are very welcoming hosts and serve up excellent food.

It is a boutique guest house and restaurant, hidden away amongst the mountains surrounding the beautiful valley of Cortijo Grande, near Mojácar in stunning rural Andalucía.

The dining room has large windows overlooking the valley.

From where you can view wonderful sunsets each evening.

The menu...

Fresh from a recent overhaul, in quiet Figueretes, about a mile from Eivissa (Ibiza town) this uber chic Miami style art deco hotel is a great destination for Balearic chilling.

All rooms and suites have been upgraded.

With a series of pool parties and fashion events in high season packed with sexy bikini clad dance divas recovering on white sun lounges from the previous day/night excesses, please be aware this hotel is an over eighteens only fun place and is categorically not a family oriented hotel.

The Sky Bar rooftop terrace overlooks the UNESCO world heritage listed site Dalt Vila (the old walle...

This perfect little hostal is in a delightful country setting, located just about 50 meters from the coast and the beautiful coves of Pou des Lleó and Canal d'en Marti where you can swim and sunbath.

 There is an outside terrace

and a indoor dinning room

It has a lovely little swimming, so it's great for chilling out

and perfect if you have young children.

This hostal is simply a few rooms above a very traditional local restaurant but the location is wonderful. The staff are pleasant and helpful although they only speak limited English.

When you book, ask for one of the rooms on the top floor at...

Hotel 100% Fun

This is a great little chilled hotel with something of a Ibiza and Bali vibe.

The rooms are scattered around the grounds, mostly situated around the swimming pool area, so best to visit when it's not school holidays, as it does get busy with kids then. Although the rooms are rather close, each has a sitting area outside. The pool area is quiet and relaxed during the day as many residents will be kitesurfing.

You use the footpath to get to the beach from the hotel that goes under the busy main road.

Playa Valdevaqueros is one of the best beaches in Europe and is full of surfers and windsurfer dudes.

The sta...

This top hotel is set on beautiful golden sands and is a great escape from the madness of platja d'en bossa.

There are so many options on the rooms. If you are worried about space, book any room or suite other than the basic silver room as these can be small and the location is in the tower so not as good.

The stylish, modern rooms offer free wi-fi, flat-screen TV’s with satellite channels and great sound systems so charge your iPod with tunes! plus blackout curtains for whenever they are needed!

Suites have living areas and outdoor Jacuzzis or swim up pools, while upgraded suites have dining rooms, ocean views and rou...
