It is not easy to have tapas bar crawl in Marbella. At least, not in the strict sense of the term, as the bars are not very close together. So we were pleasantly surprised with our evening  stroll in mid-January.

The geography of the town is quite peculier, without a clearly defined old town or centre, which means, there can be a bit of walking between bars. There are various styles here, including tapas and pintxos, markets and seafood cuisine, from traditional small wineries, to flash, gaudy looking, new designer gastro bars.

Please note, it is always best to try and avoid the franchises, which are ruining...

A few days in Málaga after COVID-19 lockdown easing.

After ten plus weeks in lockdown, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the prospect of a few days in Málaga was something to look forward to with relish. We normally tend to stay at

This is a nice, basic hotel, centrally placed next to the Mercado Central de Atarazanas (Málaga’s daily food market) and also near the oldest bar in Málaga, the Bodega Antiqua Casa de Guardia.

We have been to this excellent restaurant a few times before, which is located literally in the farmers market in town, giving them access to fresh ingredients every day.

They announce proudly that they do not have a fridge in the restaurant.

This unique restaurant comes as something of a surprise as it occupies six small market stalls, which have been given a smart modern facelift.

In order to enjoy the personalised menus here, you'll need to book the only table ahead of time.
