This restaurant is situated away from the main tourist area of Barcelona. Once you step into the restaurant you really feel like you are taking centre stage. The initial contact with the staff is very warming.
The restaurant is small at the front but opens up at the back. There is a large kitchen in the middle.
This is an excellent spot for tapas, at the bar or a full blown meal in the restaurant. There nearly always seems to be a queue confirming the quality of food you will find here. The above picture was taken at nearly 2 am.
The food here should satisfy all gourmet requirements, thanks to the opulence and variety of its menu.
Also, it is open later then most bars, I believe orders are taken until 1.30 am, so good to know if you fancy a late bite.
We rolled up at midnight on a Tuesday to find the bar area still packed to the rafters. After ten minutes we managed to find a seat at the bar on the left of...
This restaurant is a hidden gem. From its very discreet tiny entrance you would hardly guess that this could be, a fantastic culinary trip. But then again as we know, great food comes in small portions.
We arrived early on a Monday night for a 9 pm booking and the place looked like it was closed, so we went for a drink around the corner. On our return there was still only one other diner, we were suspecting a quiet night.
Within half an hour the place was full, including ex Barcelona footballer and TV pundit Gary Lineker. He obviously had local knowledge.
Chef Mikel Peinador’s small restaurant is located in a back alley loft off of La Rambla and serves excellent innovative food in a wonderful environment. The restaurant is like some quirky host's home and it does indeed feel like an house dinner party. You feel you are in his home and he is cooking just for you.
The loft is decorated with many interesting artifacts and close personal attention to detail.
The only menu is the tasting menu and everything is down to Mikel, who buys the top quality food for the day at a local market so everything is always going to be fresh.
