ASADOR IZASKUN

We had driven past the sign for Asador Izaskun lurking above the trees on the motorway the day before and I said to friends in the car that looks like it could be a nice restaurant. Without realising, this was to be our third and final restaurant visit on our short trip to Sax in Alicante to visit our friend Howard Goldsmith.

TITAS GASTROBAR

This is the second restaurant we were taken to by our friend Howard Goldsmith, who lives in the area. It is a completely different experience to the first one, which was very traditional, but both are very good in their own way.

On this occasion we ate inside as the weather was a bit inclement, although on leaving the sun was back to its best.

The food was excellent and good value for the price

We started with a plate of grill...

I had met Alexis and his father Juan at the gym (Paidesport) recently. Alexis speaks fluent English and we had a Spanglish conversation about Spanish food when he told me that his parents own El Rincon De Juan in Elda and that I should take my wife Gail, one day, and try it out.

Alexis told me that his father cooked the most wonderful paellas and rice dishes, especially the caldosa which is the soupy rice vari...
